Purple

Goodness! The theme of purple certainly inspired lots of you this week. I shall sink without a trace among all this talent.
I started with purple watercolour on heavyweight paper and sprinkled it with sea salt. I adore the alchemy of it.
Word association produced 'purple heart'  Thinking  of  the royal look of purple and gold got me to wings somehow. Dabs of gold fabric paint and a bit of gold embroidery thread. Tah-Dah!
Fond regards to you all

Purple.

Iv'e been working extensively in Purple this past month as this is the wedding theme colour for my Son's Wedding on Saturday so consequently have quite a pile of off cuts left over.
I cut a tag shape from cardboard and matted with polka dot paper which I then distressed around the edges using my handy T.H. distressing tool. I then inked the resulting rough edge with a promarker pen. The buttons are made from shrink plastic and coloured with the same promarker before shrinking down. The bow is made from paper and is made believe it or not from a 3" square of paper. The tutorial for it can be found here. It is a bit fiddly at first but you do get the hange of it quickly and as Helen emailed and said Practice makes perfect!
The flower is from the mammoth rose production undertaken which I will be posting about  on my blog. Centre tag is a Kaser craft journal tag that I treated myself to.

Purple

How do I love Purple...let me count the ways.  Really, I do love purple in all its many shades and names.  I have a mauve painted bedroom, I wear a ratty soft purple housecoat, and I often wear a purple fabric flower on my coat.  But, I consider purple the most vibrant in my little "forget-me nots" popping up all over my garden.  I sometimes rescue them from the lawnmower.  My tag reflects this idea with  freshly picked and pressed flowers on a recycled piece of wrapping paper and a lilac image from a napkin.  Sorry to miss last week,  just too busy.  But I peeked at all of the tags.  They are really SOMETHING!  Thanks for your kind comments.  Please check out my website since I have a Giveaway.  Hugs.Beth

This is Mo's tag for purple.  Mo is a new player who doesn't have a blog but is playing along by posting her tags on flickr.  This is Mo's first attempt at a tag so we welcome her along on Tag Tuesday and hope she enjoys crafting more tags

Purple

Hi Everyone, Jane in a wet and stormy Berkshire here.
I am late in posting this week as I have been very busy, a case of life getting in the way of art.

Great tags last week! I look forward to Tuesdays!

For my purple tag I have made a confection in purple. I went through my stash and found some lovely silk waste, in hues of dark purple and magenta. Using some purple felt as my base, I stitched the silk, some organza ribbons and some pieces of machine-stitched chiffon left over from an earlier project. For the backing I used some clever recycling of a cardboard strip  which held lavender sachets, and still had adhesive left when these were removed-all I had to do was cut it to size and then glue on the felt!
It was photographed on the pastel drawing I am working on for my art class this week, which happens to be of a garden with lots of purple flowers in it!

Enjoy all the purple tags!

Hi everybody, Valerie here. Not had a good week till now, my blood pressure is still way to high, and I have been having a lot of dizzy spells. Apart from that, I'm just fine! I have made 2 tags, with all the lilac/lavender/purple bits and bobs that I still had flying about on my working space. I am not too happy with them, but i don't have the energy to do anything else just now. Linking to Tag Tuesday
Have a good week, and thanks for looking!

PURPLE

Purple

This tag was a very difficult one for me because ideas
were scarce to nonexistent. I decided to look up
the meaning of the word Purple , it said.

"Purple is Royalty.
A mysterious color,  it is associated with both nobility and spirituality.
The opposites of hot red and cool blue combine to create
this intriguing color."

Then I had my idea. I took a picture that I had taken last summer of a close up of beautiful purple hydrangea and  put the meaning of Purple on in. Then I decided that I had to put my dedication on my tag because otherwise the crown and "sister" would make no sense. The crown is for Royalty (God, my King), and the sister is spirituality. I took a portion of the picture, reprinted it and cut out a bloom (twice) and then put foam tape under the leaves to give it some dimension. The photo doesn't show it but it looks very dimensional and nice!

My beloved sweet sister, Martham, had surgery today. I rejoice that our prayers have been answered and the surgery went well. Please join me in praying for a speedy recovery for her

Wishing you all a wonderfully creative week!
Best, Mary Ann

Purple

So long time since I have made a tag for Tag Tuesday, but this week I found time to do one - so here it my purple tag.

See you

"purple"

Many thanks all for your good wishes here, on Flickr, and my main blog.
I'm finding it hard to concentrate for long at a time.
I have several of these cut out pieces, given to me by a friend some time ago, so I doodled with a tube of dimensional paint for the background ....
then added braid, sequins, and small punchies ..... done!

It's lovely seeing so many inspirational artistic tags in this challenge each week.  Connie.

The Colour Purple

This was quite a challenge for me, as I didn't bring an awful lot of purple things with me to France. I found this image of gorgeous purple flowers in my image stash, and sparkly purple flowers and leaves in  my little gem stash. The Background purple paper came from a French magazine I had been reading. I used different purple ink pads to colour some French lace and a little bit of muslin, and also dabbed a bit of light lavender on to a bit of pink seam binding as I didn't have any purple -

I love these one-colour challenges! Now I am off to admire all the other purple tags. Toodlepip xxx

Purple

Hi everyone. I loved all your flowers last week. Purple for me is a very spiritual  colour, associated with my meditation practice. I have used one of my favourite stamps for this tag and a sentiment I love. In this busy world it is precious to have some 'alone' time which isn't 'lonely' although I realise sadly that we cannot all achieve this or we have to fight to get the balance right!
Tag Tuesday Purple
I have photographed it against my Amethyst Crystal. But it is a challenge to get the light right!
I have to rush to work now which will be anything but solitude, so I will enjoy all your lovely tags later and comment on them then. Here's wishing you all have a balance today of 'me' and 'them' time!
 With love xx

Purple

When I read "purple" for this week's theme, I thought of the novel by Alice Walker, 'The Color Purple". ( I think that was the movie that gave Oprah Winfrey her first claim to fame). I always loved the cover of the book, which was of a purple silhouette of a women in a rocking chair. My tag this week is a photo of me taken by my husband, when a huge ship, Pasha Bulker, went aground on Newcastle Beach ( NSW, Australial)  in 2007,  not so far from where we live.  The shadow of the freighter is visible stuck on the shore.  This was taken  just as the sun was rising , and the colours (purple-pink)  were a lot lighter in the original. I enhanced  the purple tones for this tag,  trimmed the photo to size, added some painted torn vellum for the border, and some twisted wire ties.  I have only had a peek at this week's tags already posted, so am about to look more carefully - it seems purple is a favourite colour and has inspired really fantastic art this week - congratulations to all.

Purple

Purple is my favourite colour, so there was no shortage of ideas for this week’s tags. In the end my main tag was made mostly from bits and pieces found on my table, although I dyed a few white flowers with silk paint. I used paper flowers, ribbon roses, textile daisies, a silk carrier rod, purple tape measure, embroidery thread bobbins, a button, and a butterfly.  They were all mounted onto a tag of lilac silk  backed onto felt.
This set of tags started as the result of experimenting with the water misting technique that Norma shared with us last week.  I also made tags using some other watercolour effects that were in my sketchbook, including bubble printing, sponging, using  masking fluid and  cling film.  They are all tied together with ribbon so I can add more samples to them to make a little book of watercolour techniques.

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement, they are much appreciated.  I just know that I am going to enjoy looking at all your wonderful purple creations,
Love Jane xx

 Week 17!!
As I have had yet more problems with the computer this week, I wasn't sure that I would be doing this weeks theme .  This time it has been a conflict between AOL and blogger, luckily I have a son who was able to sort it out for me very late last night.
I just had to use the poem 'When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple' for my inspiration this weeks theme.  I drew an image onto an old luggage label, which I coloured with paint and pencils.  The lenses on her glasses are from the window of an envelope.  This time, I have put a verse of the poem on the back of the label which I coloured with inks pads.
I am looking forward to seeing what everyone else has been creating.

Warning

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick flowers in other people's gardens
And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Purple

Hello everyone, what gorgeous tags everyone is posting! I just got back from a weekend of antiquing out of town and got such a bad cold while away. I left with a scratchy throat and now I am quite unwell. I had a good time nonetheless!  I had wanted to make my tag before I left, but time was not on my side. Today, I looked around my studio, and a book cover (purple) caught my eye. Well it was easy after that. This is not a complicated tag, the hardest part was cutting out the flower! I hope you enjoy my humble offering:

This is a copy of a vintage French book I got awhile back (it is very purple, but looks blue) that I used as a tag base. I added images from K and Co. Brenda Walton paper, vintage music and Daisy D sticker. I sewed vintage lace on the bottom and added a sheer green ribbon to pick up the flower stem.
Hugs,
Ivy

Purple landscape, made with watercolours. I mixed blue and magenta to get the purple (it's more of a violet, which is my favourite shade of purple). I find that photographing purple is tricky; the blues come out too strongly.

My tag for this week is based on a William Morris print The Strawberry Thief.  I am a
great fan of Morris, a mover and shaker in the Arts and Crafts Movement (1834-1896)
and a great enthusiast for embroidery and hand work.
Already the purple tags I have seen are outstanding, thank you ladies for your
inspirational work.
Thank you also for all kind comments and encouragement.
Best wishes, Valerie R.

Purple

Cardstock tag covered with white gesso and a few spots of Dye-na-flow violet by Jacquard smushed together and stamped to give a patterned background. The edge and the stamped word "celebrate" were heat embossed with eggplant embossing powder to give it a distressed look. I attached a small copper plastic oblong tripple embossed with UTTEE and a dusting of purple mica powder added before stamping. I crocheted a square with wire threaded with purple and pearl coloured beads and attached it to the top of the tag. Ribbon to finish. Wonderful work by everyone last week, sorry I didn't have time to comment on them all individually.

Purple

Hi, everybody!  For the "purple" theme I happened to think of this somewhat famous poem.  I printed it on my printer and glued it to watercolor paper that I painted to look like purple cowhide. I added a couple of scrapbook paper flowers and a purple button.  The little cow is a pencil topper that I just sat next to the tag for "photo purposes."  Until next week...

Purple

There are lots of you out there who are really purple lovers and have produced some exceptional tags using purple. I'm a red person, myself. I don't wear purple and it's about the only color that you won't find in my home. However, there is one thing that is purple that I think is glorious, stunning, breathtakingly beautiful - the Japanese Iris. For this tag, I painstakingly (and not as well as I would like) drew and painted a small Japanese Iris. Unfortunately, I was not able to capture the truly vivid shade of this flower, I cut out an oval copper frame and framed the iris, placing a tiny purple and orange butterfly on the rim of the frame. I hope you like it!

PURPLE

I decided to do a night theme this week and incorporate my favourite creature -the moth!
I painted the tag with plum coloured emulsion paint and sprayed it with walnut ink, then added the moon, moth and some watch parts.  The little droplets of misty dew are punched from purple paper and silver foil.

I drew inspiration from Steampunk for this tag, and I have posted some info on it on my blog for anyone interested.

Hope you all have a good week and I can't wait to see what you've been making for this week's theme.

'Ode To Purple'
If you know me you will know that purple is a favourite of mine,
and I'm drawn to using it a lot in my work.
I love purple and I enjoyed sifting through my stash of
purple fabrics, ribbons, buttons & beads to make this little sparkly tag

I used Two layers of purple cotton velvet a piece of distressed satin edged organza ribbon
This created some interesting areas to add beads and embroidery.
I made a cord for the tie from the Caron variegated embroidery thread
Tag: Cotton velvet
Embellishments: Organza ribbon, shell heart button,
glass seed beads, crystals, pearls, french knots and bullion knots.
Tie: Embroidery thread twisted cord.

PURPLE DOODLY BIRD.....

I firstly had to show you my purple stash of craft stuff.
My craft drawers are kept in colours.
So I just pulled the whole draw out to see what I could make.
It did pull me out of my comfort zone both with colour and materials.
This is what emerged
Another Doodly Bird.
The others looked at him as if he was a budgie that had escaped from its cage.
I had to remove him quick for fear of him being attacked by the little monsters.
Have a look on my blog to see the biscuit Doodlies that my lovely neighbour Amy made me.

Purple

Here is my purple tag. When I got thinking about purple, I thought about an exotic make-up look based around purple so that's what I've done! I even used make-up to create the tag. The face is coloured very pale with watercolour pencils. The details were drawn in with black pencil. The eyeliner, eye shadow and lipstick are all from my make-up bag. (I have to say I don't often go out looking like this, although I did have purple streaks in my hair until a couple of months ago. I still miss them!)
I chose green for the eye colour as I thought it would contrast well with the purple. For the hair I mixed black and purple and added a slight sheen with a gel pen. I did the same for the pattern in the lower corner. I added a button to my ribbon which I think looks really elegant.

Purple

Another fairly simple tag from me this week.
Tag cut from purple Bazzill using a TH die.
Iris illustrations and title cut from an old gardening book (jumble sale find).
Ribbon, chain, brad and butterfly from stash.

Thank you for all the lovely comments on my tag last week ....looking forward to seeing some wonderful purple tags from you all.

Spring Flowers

I love spring flowers, especially tulips, and knew I had just the stamp to make a tag for this week's challenge.  I stamped the tulips on patterned paper, added some Twinking H2O's for color, and stamped a  new sentiment I just got from RedLead.  I added some yellow butterflies and matching ribbon.  Enjoy!

Purple

This tag has a little slot on the top left where tags can be inserted, with a  message attached.I love purple, so I just make more than one of these.
I'm looking forward to seeing all the tags this week.I just love seeing what people make with each different theme.

Spring Flowers.

Whilst looking for some wool I came across these flowers that I knitted and crocheted last year.
They are from a book by Lesley Stanfield ' 100 flowers to knit & Crochet'. So far I have made about 10 of the projects shown in the book. My tag this week is made using some of' the flowers
as a collage against a background of stamped flowers which was a freebie in the May 'Craft Stamper' magazine. Flowers used are Rubekia , Primrose and Snowdrop with a knitted leaf.
Tag was edged with yellow ric rac braid from my stash so keeping up with my UIU pledge.

Here is my tag:

As usual on painted Lutradur, with lace and a picture from here.
